HARLEQUINS MAN WINS STILO AT MURRAYFIELD
27 May 2005 - Fiat

The prize itself – a brand new three door Fiat Stilo Sporting – marks the culmination of Fiat’s successful sponsorship of top class international rugby this season

At half-time during Sunday''s Heineken Cup European rugby final at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, as a gripping battle between Toulouse and Stade Francais Paris unfolded, Keith Edmondson from Selby in Yorkshire was enjoying the game in the sunshine when he was surprised to hear his name called on the famous rugby ground’s PA system.

Two minutes later he was down on the pitch, in front of a 51,000 crowd, being presented with the ignition keys to a brand new £13,000 Fiat Stilo Sporting by Fiat Auto UK managing director, Giulio Salomone.

Keith, who works for the police service and who recently moved up to Yorkshire from London, had picked up a Fiat leaflet as he entered the ground and used his mobile phone to text STILO to the phone number printed on it. He then thought no more about the matter, as he settled down to watch the two giants of European club rugby slug it out for the ultimate honour. Could Toulouse win the trophy they lost to Wasps last year, or could Stade Francais, beaten finalists in 2001, win it for the first time?

Keith, a keen rugby supporter and former player, who follows the fortunes of Harlequins as well as his local Selby junior team, was absolutely delighted. ''Sunday was just incredible,'' he says. ''Not only was the rugby really skilful, and the match so tense and finely balanced right to the end, but I got presented with this gorgeous car as well! I can still scarcely believe it!''

Keith is now the proud owner of a powerful, comprehensively equipped 133bhp 1.8 litre hatchback with a top speed of 126mph. Standard equipment includes 17'' alloy wheels, sports seats and cruise control.

The new Stilo Sport range, which starts at £11,111 OTR, comprises three versions: Stilo Active Sport (1.4 litre 16v, 95 bhp); Stilo Sporting (1.8 litre 16v 133 bhp); and Stilo Abarth (2.4 litre 20v 170 bhp).
