VOLVO TAKE TO THE HIGHLANDS AT CIWM 2005
25 May 2005 - Volvo Truck Ltd
Volvo Truck will be showing its new FL Highlander model on Stand N41 (North Green) at this year’s CIWM show held from 14th–16th June at Paignton.
In addition there will be a chance to see vehicles in customer configuration and livery, including a Volvo FM12 in Biffa livery and an FL sweeper owned by Gloucestershire-based R.J. Lander Ltd. The Highlander models are a range of vehicles with additional ground clearance for off-road applications. It also has a bespoke sump guard for added protection and, like all FL’s, a differential lock. This specification meets the EU definition of an ‘off-road vehicle’. The example on show at the exhibition will be a 4x2 rigid with a 220bhp variant of the 6-litre engine and equipped with a 6-speed gearbox, disc brakes and a Hiab SLT130 skip loader body. The FL is available at operating weights of 7.5 to 26 tonnes and with power options from 180 to 250bhp. The wide range of chassis options available on the 15- and 18-tonne models have proved popular for municipal use in tippers, skip loaders and sweepers. The R.J Lander truck is a prime example of this; a 15-tonne vehicle with a 3.4m wheelbase, purchased via Hartshorne Motor Group and subsequently fitted with a Scarab Mistral sweeper body. Representing the Volvo FM range, which covers weights from 18 to 32 tonnes as a rigid and to 44 tonnes as a tractor, will be a Biffa-liveried 8x4 rigid. Equipped with T-ride suspension, this FM12 has a DISAB refuse collection body. The FM is also available as a 6x4, high-chassis tractor unit ideal for bulk waste and landfill operations. Details will also be available of variants of the FH heavy truck range suitable for waste applications, including 6x4 and 8x4 rigid bodied versions
