LUCKY DAD WINS THE SWINTON SPECIALIST EVO
Julian Stancliffe can’t believe his luck – he’s the proud new owner of a stunning 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V GSR. It was the amazing prize in a competition organised by performance car insurance broker Swinton Specialist. Julian entered the ''Win an Evo'' competition in August by asking for a quote on the Swinton Specialist website. He was randomly selected as the winner from a staggering 48,000 entries. The 41-year-old electrician from Holmfirth, West Yorks, who is married with a young son, Lewis, said: “I got the phone call to say I’d won, and, to be honest, I barely remember entering. I thought it was a wind-up or a scam, so I did a bit of digging and called Swinton Specialist back myself. It was only then I realised it was true. “I’ve always had sporty cars but this is something else. My mates are calling me lucky – or words to that effect! – and want to know when we’re going on a track day!” Worth £9,500 and with only 73,000 miles on the clock, the silver dream machine was imported specially from Japan. Julian also gets a year’s free insurance courtesy of Swinton Specialist and £2,000 to spend on modifications of his choice. “I like my cars to look fairly subtle – I don’t like bodykit for the sake of it – so I’m going to get a really top-end audio system put in,” he said.
