British Truck Racing Championship finale
Brands Hatch will host its annual Truck Superprix next weekend (1/2 November), featuring the season finale of the 2008 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship. The five-tonne machines from the British Truck Racing series weigh as much as a baby elephant but can accelerate to 100mph faster than a Porsche 911! Four races will take place next weekend, featuring frontrunners eight-time truck racing champion Stuart Oliver and ‘Rainbow Warrior’ Cees Zandbergen in his multicoloured machine. There will also be plenty of local support for brothers Graham and Steven Powell, who hail from Aylesford and West Kingsdown respectively. Steven lies fifth in the Class B competition, whilst Graham is currently fifth in Class A after graduating to the premier category this season. As well as the British Truck Racing Championship, the Truck Superprix will feature support races from Pickup Trucks, Legends and the South East Saloon Car Championship, plus a special showtruck parade. Brands Hatch will also be providing plenty of family entertainment off-track including a visit from Diggerland, a fun fair, passenger rides in a rally car or off-road 4x4, children’s go-karting and kids’ driving school sessions.
