CITROËN C-CROSSER: NEW MODEL; NEW ENGINE; NEW GEARBOX
05 July 2008 - Citroën UK Ltd

New 5-seater VTR will feature a high level of standard equipment

Citroën is enhancing its C-Crosser range with a new model that features a more powerful, 170hp 2.4 litre petrol engine. With a competitive price of just £19,995 rrp, the new entry-level VTR version adds even more value for money to the model’s style and versatility.

This new petrol engine will also be available on both the VTR+ and Exclusive trim levels with a new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which offers good efficiency, fuel consumption and performance. With 25% of SUV buyers choosing automatic transmission this new unit will appeal to a significant number of potential customers.

Providing the convenience of an automatic, with an infinite number of ratios, together with the driver involvement of a manual, thanks to a “Sport Mode” function, the CVT features steering wheel mounted paddles to allow the engine to rev higher and boost driver enjoyment. The system avoids unnecessary gear shifts, provides engine braking and smooth ‘gearchanges’ whilst continuously and automatically adapting to engine load and conditions. This convenience comes with no penalty to fuel consumption, with the CVT transmission returning a better combined fuel consumption figure.

Despite the keen pricing, the new 5-seater VTR will feature a high level of standard equipment including automatic folding of the reclining and sliding split rear seats, cruise control, light sensitive headlights and a split tailgate. In addition, an array of advanced safety features such as ABS with EBD and ESP and 6 airbags are all fitted as standard.
