TRULLI PROMISES ''110%'' FOR MONACO
11 May 2005 - ITV Sport

Jarno Trulli has promised his Toyota team 110% effort ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix as he bids to win back-to-back races at the Principality.

But the Italian, who currently lies second in the drivers'' championship, remains cautious of his chances, despite his sublime qualifying form giving him an advantage at a circuit where overtaking is impossible.

''It would be fantastic to think I could win in Monaco again, but it would be wrong to expect it just because I scored my first win there last year!'' he said.

''The driver can arguably have a bigger input at Monaco relative to the whole package, but the car still has to be exactly right.''

Trulli also harbours concerns about the engine he carries over from the Spanish Grand Prix.

He knows that should it fail, a 10-place grid penalty is a massive blow to his chances of maintaining his points-scoring run around the tight streets of Monaco.

''Even though the engine counts less in Monaco than here, it counts all the same,'' he said.

''My engine was not too strong [in Barcelona] and my speeds were not as good as Ralf''s everywhere, but it was not a big problem in terms of reliability.''

Despite this, Trulli expects Toyota to be competitive again in Monte Carlo.

''For Monaco we''ll have a completely new aerodynamic package in my car to take away all the doubts – all aero parts will be new,'' he said.

''Our good finishes in Barcelona mean that we will both run towards the end of the first qualifying session and that''s important in Monte Carlo because the track gets significantly quicker the more tyre rubber that goes down.''
