WINNING MODEL MAKERS GET LAND ROVER EXPERIENCE
25 September 2007 - Land Rover

A well-earned reward was waiting for Land Rover''s TrackNAVCHALLENGE 2007 winners recently.

The model builders took to the hills at the Land Rover Experience Centre, Eastnor, to experience the real thing.

The ''A Team'' from Chase Technology College, Burntwood, that built its victorious model to successfully tackle an in-door all-terrain track at the TrackNAVCHALLENGE final held this July, was treated to expert demonstrations of full size Land Rovers by highly skilled instructors. The team also received instruction in responsible off-road driving as part of Land Rover''s commitment to protecting the environment.

After an exhilarating morning in the mud and ruts, the students tried their hands at laser clay pigeon shooting.

Commenting on the day''s events, the ''A Team''s'' teacher, Martin Baylis said: ''You only need to look at the students faces to see how much fun they had today.'' Adrian Coles, the team''s technical consultant added: ''Experiencing the capabilities of Land Rovers in action has inspired them even more for next year''s challenge.''

TrackNAVCHALLENGE is aimed at 14-18 year old students and tasks them with designing and building a radio controlled four-wheel drive model which emulates what a real Land Rover can do.

The ambition of TrackNAVCHALLENGE is to raise awareness, interest and enthusiasm in engineering through the practical ''hands-on'' application of Design and Technology, Mathematics and Science.

TrackNAVCHALLENGE''s new website is now up and running! See www.tracknavchallenge.co.uk for more information on the challenge or for educational establishments wishing to register for the next academic year.
