DIFFICULT WEEKEND AHEAD
13 April 2007 - Jenson Button

Jenson is in Bahrain, preparing for this weekend’s third round of the World Championship at the Bahrain International Circuit.

He has good memories of the track, having finished on the podium in 2004 and fourth last year.

“This is a track that I enjoy racing on,” he says. “There are some fast and flowing sections where you can really push the car, and there are several overtaking opportunities on the lap, which usually leads to a good race.”

“The situation won’t be much different from Sepang,” says Jenson. “We are struggling for grip at the moment, which means the car isn’t consistent from one lap to the next. We know what is causing the problems and the guys at the factories in Brackley, Bracknell and Tochigi are working flat-out to solve them, but that doesn’t help us on the racetrack.

Away from the racetrack, Jenson really likes Bahrain. He first visited the Kingdom in 2003, when the track was being built, and he has returned regularly ever since. He is currently having a four-bedroom house built in Durrat al Bahrain, which should be finished by next year’s Bahrain GP.

“I love Bahrain,” he says. “It’s quiet and chilled, which makes it a perfect place to get away from everything. On Tuesday I went to have a look at the house that is being built for me, and it looks great. When it’s finished I can see myself spending even more time here.”
