NORTHERN COMMERCIALS OPENS DEDICATED VAN CENTRE

Iveco distributor Northern Commercials, part of the Clipper Logistics Group, has opened its first dedicated van sales centre, based on the Gelderd Road – one of the major arterial routes into Leeds.

The purpose-built Van Centre represents a brand new venture for Northern Commercials and is aimed at raising the profile of the Iveco light commercial vehicle range in West Yorkshire.

Roger Peel, Dealer Principal at Northern Commercials explains: “The new site has been designed specifically for selling vans and is situated in the perfect location to attract passing retail trade. It puts Northern Commercials firmly on the map as a van specialist and comes at the perfect time, just months after the launch of Iveco’s new Daily range.

“Aftersales support will be provided by our main dealership in Morley, approximately 1.5 miles away, and will enable van operators to have their vehicles serviced 24 hours a day, just like our truck customers do. This is a real USP for Northern Commercials as the majority of vans are sold by car dealerships, with servicing only available during the day, which is when most operators want their vehicle to be out on the road,” he adds.

The van centre will sell the complete Iveco Daily range, which comprises over 2,500 models from 3.2 to 6.5 tonnes, ensuring there is a suitable vehicle for the needs of every van or light truck operator.

“We are projecting sales of up to 200 vans from the new site in 2007, and will be carefully monitoring this growth, with a view to opening more specialist van centres in other parts of West Yorkshire over the next 18 months,” adds Mr Peel.

Northern Commercials sells approximately 1,000 new and 350 used commercial vehicles annually, comprising at least 300 new and 100 used vans. The company was founded in 1971 and has been an Iveco dealer for the past fourteen years, selling everything from panel vans to 44 tonne articulated trucks. It moved to new premises in Brighouse in 1997 and expanded with the purchase of an additional site in Morley, Leeds, in 2002, giving it complete coverage of West Yorkshire.
