CHRIS THORNEYCROFT-SMITH TO LEAVE IVECO
06 March 2007 - IVECO
After fourteen years with Iveco, Chris Thorneycroft-Smith is to leave the company at the end of June to pursue new interests.
Joining Iveco from Leyland DAF in 1993, Chris initially held the position of Marketing Director with responsibility for developing the Company’s image and communications before moving to head up the company’s Light Business Unit in 2000 and the development of Iveco’s New Daily van range. Between 2000 and 2004 Daily vans became an increasingly important contributor to Iveco’s ongoing UK success with Iveco firmly establishing itself as the third best-selling brand in the all-important 3.5 tonne sector. In 2003 Daily reached the magical 10,000 units and 10 per cent market share. Early in 2005, Chris moved to become UK Market Director, a year in which the Iveco Group sold more vehicles in the UK market than at any other time in its history and re-established its credentials as a leading contender in the UK tractor sector with Stralis, before being appointed Managing Director of Iveco UK in December 2005 with additional responsibility for the activities of ICS and Seddon Atkinson. “I am leaving Iveco at a hugely exciting time in its development,” said Chris. “With New Stralis about to hit the market and New Daily achieving its best-ever market share of nearly 12 per cent, along with a stronger-than-ever ethos of customer service, the company can only go from strength to strength.” “I have very much enjoyed my time with Iveco and the support and loyalty of all my colleagues within Iveco and the dealer network and I am proud with what we have jointly achieved for the brand over the last fourteen years and I look forward to reflecting on the company’s burgeoning success in years to come. “Personally I am looking forward to new challenges whilst maintaining my position on the Executive Boards of the FTA and Brunel University.”
