LATEST EURO NCAP RESULTS RELEASED Euro NCAP today releases the results of five cars: the Fiat Bravo, the Honda CR-V, the Honda Legend, the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Toyota Corolla. The Fiat Bravo, the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Legend have all been awarded the maximum five star rating for adult occupant protection. The CR-V and the Outlander have both been awarded four stars for adult occupant protection. The Legend is Honda''s first five star car. It has also scored three stars for pedestrian protection, featuring an active protection system which detects when a pedestrian has been struck and raises the bonnet to prevent the pedestrian contacting hard components in the engine bay. The Corolla was also awarded three stars for pedestrian protection. Euro NCAP is pleased to see more and more manufacturers achieving three stars for this aspect of safety. Seat belts continue to be one of the most effective ways of increasing the protection provided to car occupants. Both Hondas have scored maximum points for their Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) systems which cover front and rear seats. The cars provide a clear visual and audible warning when an occupant in any seating position is unbuckled. Sheila Rainger, Campaigns Manager for the RAC Foundation, said: ''The safest car on the road is the one which does not get involved in accidents. While drivers must still take responsibility for driving carefully and attentively, these results should reassure consumers that manufacturers are adopting the latest technology in order to protect drivers, their passengers, and pedestrians.''
