TAXIS KEEP ROLLING OUT
17 February 2007 - LTI Vehicles
Mann & Overton, the London LTI Main Dealer, has sold more than 500 of the latest generation of the iconic cabs in less than four months.
New London taxi roles past milestone The 500th order for a TX4, launched by manufacturer LTI Vehicles on October 17, was placed with Mann & Overton London on January 29. It means an average of 36 a week have been sold since then by Mann & Overton London, one of two official dealers in the capital for LTI Vehicles. The TX4 was introduced to meet new Euro IV regulations on emissions. It features a VM Motori engine which is cleaner and more powerful than its predecessors – the TX1 and TXII – the TX4 also has a restyled front grille, smoother suspension and anti-lock brakes, but retains the world-famous looks of the London taxi. Sales across the country have been brisk, with drivers and passengers alike raving about the new generation cab, which has a raft of safety features and is fully-wheelchair-accessible. Demand for the new taxi is such that drivers are encouraged to order early for their new ’07 registration March vehicle to avoid disappointment. Peter Rigden, General Manager with Mann & Overton London, which recently moved to a new flagship showroom in Brewery Road, said: “From the off, the TX4 has been nothing short of a phenomenon. “London taxi drivers are very discerning. They know what they like and what they don’t – and we have had fantastic feedback from them on this vehicle. “We have effectively been selling seven TX4’s every business day, which is like nothing I have ever seen before. The figures speak for themselves, at this rate it won’t be long before we announce our 1,000th customer. “And being in our new premises, we can now offer even better back up and service to the drivers on London’s streets.” LTI Vehicles has been manufacturing purpose-built taxis since 1948. More than 1200 TX4s have been sold since the launch, which was held at Lords Cricket Ground. For more information about LTI Vehicles and TX4, visit www.lti.co.uk
