RECRUITMENT FOR APPRENTICES STARTS TODAY
22 January 2007 - Rolls Royce

NEW APPRENTICES JOIN THE ROLLS-ROYCE SUCCESS STORY

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has today announced the start of recruitment for the company’s second intake of apprentices. The successful applicants will join the apprenticeship programme in August 2007 working alongside skilled craftspeople in the paint, wood, leather, assembly or maintenance areas. The first 12 apprentices joined the company in September 2006.

The company’s apprenticeship programme was successfully launched last year and has received applications from around the world. The programme provides people aged 16-19 with the opportunity to train with the Goodwood-based manufacturer of the world’s best selling super-luxury cars. The apprenticeships last for up to four years and combine on-the-job training with studying for nationally recognised qualifications. The opportunity to join the company following a successful apprenticeship is also a possibility. The programme has been designed in conjunction with the Learning Skills Council (LSC), South East Economic Development Agency (SEEDA) and Chichester College.

The apprentices join the company at an exciting time, with the recent launch of the new Phantom Drophead Coupé. Development work has begun on an additional new model, which will join the Rolls-Royce line-up within the next four years. The new model will sit below the price of the Phantom models and will be slightly smaller. Planning permission has recently been granted to allow the expansion of operations and building work has already begun.

Ian Robertson, Chairman and Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “We are delighted to announce the second year of our apprenticeship programme, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the development and training of young people in the UK manufacturing industry. We anticipate a significant number of new jobs being created at the manufacturing plant over the next few years and our apprentices will be ideally positioned to take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

Potential candidates for the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars apprenticeship programme should email their C.V. and covering letter to recruitment@rolls-roycemotorcars.com.
