RACE ON SUNDAY, SELL ON MONDAY
15 January 2007 - Aquila Sports Cars
RACING IMPROVES THE BREED
The headline quote is from Bill Lyons of Jaguar Cars (when they were British…) whose policy of racing C and D Types on the weekend in order to sell XK 120s and 140s out of the showrooms at the beginning of the week seemed to work quite well for him! The first quote cannot be currently traced to anyone in particular but is certainly true so far as the development of brakes, aerodynamics, tyres, suspension and engine reliability is concerned. Either quote could have come from the lips of Milan Mladenovic – owner and founder of Aquila Sports Cars. The prototype Aquila Raider has been entered in the Special GT series being raced at Castle Combe (http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk ) throughout the 2007 season by David Gardner ex-MG Maestro Turbo team racer. He is looking forward very much to letting the Aquila Raider stretch its legs as it has considerable more power than the MG Turbo that he has been campaigning. The Castle Combe series dates are: Monday 9th April, Monday 7th May, Sat 28th May, Sun 23rd June, Sun 15th July, Sat 4th Aug, Mon 27th Aug, Sat 15th Sep, Sat 6th Oct. The Raider is being campaigned throughout 2007 to act as a test bed and development device for the Aquila production cars. There are currently no plans to go into production, although the Raider is street legal. Aquila’s continued racing heritage through the Raider will augment the research and development that makes the road cars so reliably smooth. Vehicle type: 2 seater sports/racer SVA passed Donor car (or parts used from) Ford Sierra, Rover Chassis type Spaceframe Body construction Aluminium and GRP Standard engine options Ford, Rover V8 For sale or rental in the UK, Europe, the USA and the Caribbean, the exciting Aquila Julietta is available – constantly improved by the racing experience of its big brother.
