EUROPE’S BEST MOTOR SPORTS SHOW IS JUST DAYS AWAY FROM OPENING
11 January 2007 - Autosport International Show 2007
Autosport International at the NEC covers motorsport on and off road and is increasingly becoming the venue for debuts of the latest competition and high performance on and off-road cars.
The opening two days, exclusively for motorsport trade visitors on Thursday and Friday, promise to be the biggest and best to date. It opens to the public over the weekend (13&14 January). British motorsport fans will get their first chance to view the record-breaking JCB Dieselmax, which will be the centrepiece of the MIA stand. David Richards, Chairman of Prodrive, will be returning to the show, where his company will display to visitors for the first time a stunning range of products for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage which he has successfully raced for the factory team while developing his F1 team, which should debut next year. Subaru will launch the special edition Impreza WRX STI, to be unveiled in memory of Britain''s last World Rally Champion, Richard Burns. Vauxhall will unveil the new Vectra, with which it will contest the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, while SEAT Sport UK will launch its all-new Leon Cupra, which is set to make its debut in the 2007 SEAT Cupra Championship. The show is designed to appeal to all enthusiasts however small or super their budgets, whether spectators or participants, and there is a strong educational interest in the event with many colleges and universities supporting it with stands. Components suppliers and engineering companies make up the majority of the stands and it’s the one-stop shop for all your high performance requirements in the engineering “village” at the show. Prodrive also runs the Aston Martin Racing Team which will play a major role in the ground-shaking, jaw-dropping Live Action Arena performances which take place on all four days. If you''re into live racing action, then this is the place to see it. Situated within the largest hall of the NEC, the indoor racing track with around 5500 seats allows you to see an array of motor racing action. Aston Martin Racing Team driver Darren Turner will drive a DBR9 Le Mans Car and Prodrive’s SWRT test driver Terry Kaby will be driving a Subaru World Rally Car in the performances as well as making guest appearances throughout the four days of the show. On the first evening is the MIA Awards Dinner which recognises the best business achievers in the motor sport industry in the UK. ©WheelsWithinWales Images by Autosport International / Haymarket Exhibitions Ltd.
