WEST OF SCOTLAND GROUP BUY FIRST ALL-NEW VOLVO
21 April 2006 - Volvo Truck Ltd
Lanarkshire-based West of Scotland Group have taken delivery of their first-ever brand new Volvo truck – a 550bhp FH16 tractor unit – for use on their heavy haulage contracts.
Bought from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Scotland at Glasgow East (Hamilton), the truck was chosen on the basis of the company’s experience with a Used Volvo. ''The support we got from Volvo with the used truck was almost second-to-none,'' explains West of Scotland Director Jimmy Campbell. ''The back-up was excellent and I’m comfortable with the product. Enough to go ahead and buy a new truck to join our fleet.'' The 8x4 artic has been converted from a 6x4 by North East Truck & Van who also fitted the George Fischer sliding fifth wheel. West of Scotland Group have specified the truck with a Globetrotter XL cab in ‘Prestige’ trim with full leather trim and seats, fridge, microwave and CD/radio player. Plated at 150 tonnes GCW, the truck also has a 14-speed Volvo manual gearbox and twin exhausts. Based at the company’s Coatbridge headquarters, the FH16 will operate all across the UK with a variety of modular lowloader trailers transporting contractor’s plant equipment and wind turbines for wind farms.
