VOLVO PASS THE HISTORY TEST FOR THOMPSONS OF PRUDHOE
14 April 2006 - Volvo Truck Ltd
Demolition and earthworks contractor Thompsons of Prudhoe have continued a 25-year relationship with Volvo Trucks with the purchase of 11 new vehicles - ten 13-litre FM 8x4 tippers and an FH16 heavy hauler.
Nine of the 400bhp FM’s have been specified with Day cabs in ‘Comfort’ trim, while the tenth has a sleeper cab in the same trim. All have 9-speed manual gearboxes, steel suspension and Aliweld aggregate tipper bodies. Plated at 32 tonne GVW, the tippers will be used on quarry, muck away and recycling work, while the 150 tonne GCW 550bhp FH16 will be used to carry the company’s plant. ''We’ve been dealing with Volvo for around 25 years and in that time have bought about 150 to 160 trucks from them. We have a very good relationship,'' says Thompsons Director John Thompson. ''The trucks’ long term reliability is excellent.'' The trucks were bought from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North in Washington on a three-year repair and maintenance contract and will operate across the North East.
