IVECO TRAKKER GOES OFF-ROAD WITH WINDMILL DEMOLITION

Stockport-based Windmill Demolition has become one of the first operators in the UK to take delivery of a Trakker from Iveco’s new range of multi-axle rigids designed for heavy duty applications.
The Trakker AD340T35 benefits from a Stralis-based cab offering the same degree of comfort for off-road work as is typical of Iveco’s on-road models, combined with numerous technical developments and enhancements. Specified in an 8x4 configuration and with a cab width of 2.28 m, the Trakker offers excellent vehicle manoeuvrability in confined spaces, resulting in a reduced risk of collision with obstacles. Adrian Kelly, Managing Director of Windmill Demolition, says: ''When Iveco launched the original EuroTrakker in 1994 we were the first operator in the UK to take delivery. We currently have six EuroTrakkers in our fleet, and it was based on their strong performance that we were one of the first in line for the new model. ''The nature of our operation will see the Trakker really put to the test,'' he adds. ''We typically keep vehicles on the fleet for as long as they remain financially viable to service, which is one of the strengths of the original EuroTrakker. They are hard workers with an excellent driveline package, and in our experience offer impressive reliability.'' The Trakker is fitted with a hooklift body manufactured by Reynolds Bowton and was supplied by Manchester-based Iveco distributor CD Bramall. It will operate across the North West of England on demolition and muck shifting duties. One of the latest features on the new Trakker is the anti-slip access steps, which make getting in or out of the cab even safer. Additionally, the bottom step is flexible and hingeless, so if it collides with an obstacle whilst manoeuvring, it simply bends and then returns to its original shape. The Trakker is also fitted with an all-steel bumper, consisting of three sections, which helps to minimise replacement costs if damaged. The bottom section of the bumper has also been rounded off to follow the front approach angle; when the vehicle is moving, the step used by the driver to clean the windscreen retracts into it. For added protection, the halogen headlamps are set into the front of the vehicle and shielded by a removable grille. Power is provided by Iveco’s 7.8 litre Cursor 8 engine, which is capable of producing 350 hp between 1,930 and 2,400 rev/min and up to 1,280 Nm of torque between 1,080 and 1,950 rev/min, driven through Iveco’s 12-speed EuroTronic gearbox.
