ŠKODA WINS UK DISABILITY AWARD
07 April 2006 - Skoda
Motability, the car scheme for disabled people, has presented Škoda with its prestigious New to Scheme Manufacturer award, overcoming stiff competition from manufacturers including BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Motability, which manages a fleet of more than 423,000 vehicles, hosted the inaugural Motability Supplier Awards to recognise companies that have delivered excellence, scheme growth and high performance. Škoda walked away with the award in the New to Scheme Manufacturer Category, in recognition of its sales performance in 2005 during which the brand achieved a 23.9% increase in fleet sales in a market up just 9.7%, and a total sales volume of 14,555 – a significant increase on 10,030 in 2004. Martin Burke, Head of Business Sales for Škoda, comments, ''We are delighted to receive this award, especially considering the strength of the competition. 2005 was a turning point for Škoda’s business sales - we now have a total fleet share of 1.27% - and are looking to build on this success throughout 2006.'' The event took place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London and entertainment was provided by comedian Jimmy Carr.
