Peugeot has started 2006 on a roll with a fresh range of new cars (including the 107, 1007 and the restyled 307) complemented by the ever-popular 206 which continues as the company’s best-selling new car.
Sales up in first quarter, with a UK Market share of 6.44% Strong March for Peugeot with 26,000 cars on the road with ’06 number plate Peugeot lead open-top motoring sales despite the cold weather In March, 206 sales surpassed the 600,000 milestone in the UK, making it the best-selling Peugeot ever. Overall, sales of all new cars in the UK market in the first three months of 2006 were down 4.6%, while the combined Peugeot range was up nearly 2%. Sales successes include the Peugeot 107, which struck a chord with customers who appreciate its combined safety, specification and great package, and with over 3,000 sold in March alone, is comfortably outselling its siblings. The 1007, with its innovative electric sliding doors, had nearly 1,000 customers, while over 10,000 chose the desirable 206. Year-to-date sales of the restyled 307 are up on 2005, with the 307 Coupé Cabriolet up 44% despite the lower than average temperatures. Combined with the 206 CC, Peugeot continues to dominate the market for open-top motoring. The strikingly attractive 407 Saloon and SW, now joined by the elegant Coupé, performed well in the Fleet market, with sales up 27%. Sales of 807 are also up 27% on 2005. With the all-new 207 on sale in the UK from 8 June, Peugeot is reinforcing its position of strength in the Small car sector with the 207 joining 206, 1007 and the 107 for a comprehensive range of choice. Peugeot’s Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) are also performing well. Sales in March were up 2.9% overall, while year-on-year sales to date of the Boxer van specifically, were up 8%.
