NEW MITSUBISHI LANCER TO BE LAUNCHED IN THE UK
15 December 2004 - Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors UK has announced that it will launch the new Lancer model line-up in the UK. On-sale from February 2005, the latest addition to the Mitsubishi family will feature both a four-door saloon and five-door estate with prices ranging from £9,999 to £11,999.
Designed to appeal to UK customers looking for an affordable, practical and well-equipped family car with sharp, clean, modern lines, the Lancer offers a package that is difficult to beat. With exceptional pricing and high levels of standard equipment, coupled to Mitsubishi’s reputation for reliability and engineering quality, the new Lancer truly represents a great value package. Equipped with a responsive 1.6-litre 96bhp SOHC 16-valve engine the standard Lancer range features two trim levels, the Equippe saloon priced at £9,999 and estate at £10,499 plus the leather-clad Elegance saloon priced at £10,749 and estate at £11,249. Mitsubishi’s 4-speed INVECS II automatic transmission with Sports Mode is available for an additional £500. Topping the range is the £11,999 fully loaded 2.0-litre DOHC 16-valve Lancer Sport estate. Available with manual transmission and in estate body-style only, the 1997cc Lancer Sport develops 133bhp @ 5,750rpm, covers 0 to 62 mph in 10 seconds and has a top speed of 124mph. In the highly-competitive and cost-conscious C-segment of the market, value-for-money is fundamental, so Mitsubishi Motors UK has chosen to give its customers the full package; standard 15'' alloy wheels, metallic paint, air conditioning, CD player, keyless entry, colour-keyed electric door mirrors with defoggers, front fog lights, power door mirrors, height adjustable driver’s seat, 60/40 split back rest and rear adjustable headrests. Both the Lancer estate and saloon get a distinctive colour-keyed rear spoiler with high mount stop lamp. The range-topping 2.0-litre Lancer Sport estate gains 16'' alloy wheels, Momo 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel, sports type front seats, CD auto-changer, sports type grille and a lowered suspension. Passenger safety is also a significant feature of the new Lancer range, all models coming with standard front SRS airbags for driver and passenger, side airbags, side-door impact bars and anti-trapping power windows front and rear. In terms of driving dynamics, the Lancer is fitted with independent suspension all-round, with Macpherson front struts and a multi-link set-up at the rear. ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) is included across the range, as are 15'' ventilated front and 14'' solid rear disc brakes. 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Model Range & Prices Saloon (4-door) Equippe 1.6 (manual) £9,999 Equippe 1.6 (auto) £10,499 Elegance 1.6 (manual) £10,749 Elegance 1.6 (auto) £11,249 Estate (5-door) Equippe 1.6 (manual) £10,499 Equippe 1.6 (auto) £10,999 Elegance 1.6 (manual) £11,249 Elegance 1.6 (auto) £11,749 Sport 2.0 (manual) £11,999 Now in its 9th generation, the launch of the Lancer in the UK signifies Mitsubishi’s return to the C-segment.
