T. QUALITY WORK WITH VOLVO TO DESIGN TAILOR-MADE VEHICLE
02 March 2006 - Volvo Truck Ltd

T. Quality, the UK’s top supplier to fish and chip shops, has taken delivery of five new Volvo FLE 4x2 rigids, fitted with refurbished Klege Europ bodies, from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Wales and West.

''We took delivery of eight of these new trucks last year following the successful trial of the first two new trucks in December 2004. So far this year we have replaced five trucks, with another two due to be replaced in April,'' explains T. Quality’s Transport Manager Laurent Henry.

''By April 2006 we will have replaced seventeen vehicles in total with the new improved chassis and re-conditioned bodies,'' added Laurent Henry. ''The bodies are very valuable, so it made financial sense to refurbish and improve, rather than simply replacing them. To try and keep overall lifetime vehicle costs to a minimum, whilst helping to protect the environment as recycling fridge bodies is a complicated process, so T. Quality has been working with Volvo for the last two years to develop this tailor-made vehicle. The split compartment bodies allow transport of ambient and frozen goods, with curtains replacing sliding doors to give greater flexibility.''

The specification of the new truck has incorporated several elements to improve delivery and service levels. Air suspension on the drive axle allows improved ease of access for loading and unloading.

Based in Swindon with nine other depots across the UK, T. Quality supplies over 1,000 products to fish and chip shops, including a huge range of frozen at sea fish, cooking fats and oils, batter mix, packaging and soft drinks.
