HYUNDAI HERO TRAVELS BY TUCSON FOR DATE WITH THE QUEEN
27 February 2006 - Hyundai
Mountaineer Alan Hinkes honoured at Buckingham Palace
Hyundai’s mighty mountaineer Alan Hinkes shunned a limo in favour of his trusty and stylish Tucson to attend an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace recently. Alan, 51, one of Britain’s great adventurers, was made an OBE by the Queen in recognition of his all-conquering climbing achievements and his contribution to the sport of mountaineering. “In some ways the ceremony was as daunting as some of the peaks I’ve climbed, but it was a tremendous occasion and I am immensely proud to have been honoured in this way,” said Alan, who is the only Briton and one of the few elite mountaineers to have reached the summit of all of the world’s highest mountains. “Taking the Hyundai to the Palace seemed absolutely the right thing to do, as it’s a vehicle that perfectly reflects my own sporting go-anywhere spirit.” Following Alan’s historic climbing campaign, Hyundai was delighted to recognise his unique British achievement by equipping him with a four-wheel drive Tucson CRTD CDX. It has provided him with comfortable, rugged and reliable transport for his journeys across the country with his Full Mounty stage show, and to wilder areas to lead and advise on climbing expeditions. A 4x4 that’s fit for the Palace is available to all, the Hyundai Tucson SUV range starting at just £14,295 on the road.
