ŠKODA ROOMSTER TO MAKE ITS WORLD DEBUT AT GENEVA MOTORSHOW
21 February 2006 - Skoda
The new Škoda Roomster will make its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show on 28 February.
Škoda’s fourth model line, the Roomster is the embodiment of Škoda’s future direction with its striking design, strong character and skilful use of space. Six Roomsters will be on display, showing the breadth of choice that will be available in the range. The Roomster made its first appearance as a design study at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 2003. A very favourable response by both the media and the general public confirmed that Škoda Auto has the talent to develop innovative solutions for today’s driving needs and so the Roomster was developed for production. The Škoda Roomster offers excellent spaciousness while maintaining compact exterior dimensions. Its unique, highly flexible VarioFlex rear seat system makes it possible to use the vehicle as a two- three-, four- or five-seater. The raised position of the rear passenger seat and large windows in the rear passenger doors, combined with a panoramic sunroof, provide exceptional visibility and evoke a feeling of airiness and spaciousness. The Roomster is equipped with four airbags and five three-point retractor seat belts. ''Curve'' halogen headlights and fog lamps with ''Corner'' function are offered for the first time in this segment. A diesel particulate filter (DPF) will be on offer soon after launch. The Škoda Roomster will be launched in major European markets in the summer and autumn of 2000 and will go on sale in the UK in the Fourth Quarter 2006. In addition to the Roomster, Škoda Auto will present its existing model ranges, the Fabia, Octavia, and Superb, in Geneva. The Fabia’s vehicle security has been improved with the installation of a new-generation immobilizer system. Moreover, four new exterior paint colours will be offered and the existing 1.4 l 16V/55 kW petrol engine will be replaced with a more powerful 1.4 l 16V/59 kW power plant for the Fabia Sedan and Fabia Estate versions from next June. This engine will also be available in the Octavia model range. A new-generation diesel particulate filter (DPF), working without additives, will now be offered for the 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW diesel engine as well. The Octavia, too, will offer new paint colours and an expanded range of optional equipment. Introduction of new turbodiesel engines for the Škoda Superb model in early 2006 will be followed by some changes in interior equipment along with two new exterior colours for the Superb. The Roomster debut adds breadth to Škoda’s model range and will provide the same outstanding design, practicality and value as the rest of the range. Combined with Škoda’s award-winning customer service, the Roomster is bound to win hearts for Škoda. The Škoda Auto press conference at the Geneva Motor Show will take place at the Škoda Auto stand in Hall 2 on Tuesday 28th February at 3.15 p.m. Additional photos of the Roomster will be available on 28 February.
