JAAMA ANNOUNCES DATES FOR MORE AT-WORK DRIVING HEALTH AND SAFETY SEMINARS
18 February 2006 - Jaama
Unprecedented demand from companies for expert advice on implementing occupational road risk management policies has led to Jaama organising a further four health and safety seminars
The road safety and fleet software specialist trained more than 350 companies in occupational road safety best practice in 2005 and says thousands of other companies, particularly those running small fleets, continue to require help as the Government, police and Health and Safety Executive remain focused on reducing the toll of at-work driving road crashes. The seminars, which cost £375 per delegate, will be held on: Thursday, February 23 - Corus Hotel, Edinburgh; Tuesday, March 14 - Holiday Inn, Leicester; Thursday, March 23 - The Bromsgrove Hotel, Bromsgrove; and Thursday, March 30 - Holiday Inn, Basingstoke. Jaama managing director Jason Francis said: “We recognise that the operators of smaller or employee-owned fleets do not always have the luxury of a full time, dedicated fleet manager and often new legislation and best practice advice is missed. With this in mind we have developed a complete package to help companies meet all their duty of care requirements, run a safer fleet and reduce fleet overheads “Our duty of care seminars, lead delegates through the legislative minefield and cover areas such as, easy steps to a safer fleet, implications for their business, best practice guidelines, performing risk assessments, employer responsibility, policy essentials and the benefits of managing work related road safety.” Workshops during the afternoon session include an overview of vehicle fleet management essentials with the help of technology and full understanding of the sample policies issued to delegates and how they can be adapted within their business. During the seminar delegates will receive: sample fleet policy/fleet policy template; sample drivers handbook/handbook template; seminar documentation; a copy of the Health and Safety Executive’s ‘Driving at work: Managing Work-Related Road Safety’ guidelines; and RoSPA’s guidelines on Safe Journeys, Mobile Phones and Safer Speeds Mr Francis added: “Implementing driving at-work best practice need not be as daunting as it first appears. With the correct policies, procedures and audit trails in place companies can satisfy their duty of care requirements. These implementations in turn will reduce crashes through better driving standards, reduce insurance premiums, reduce accidents and related costs and reduce overall fleet operating costs. Jaama is believed to be the first company to integrate road safety services and vehicle management software under its Key2 Risk Management brand. The company has also launched a dedicated website, www.key2roadsafety.co.uk, which aims to help reduce the hazards associated with driving on company business by providing information, guidance and best practice advice.
