19 February 2006 - IVECO
Iveco Motors / Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) has announced a new partnership with TATA Daewoo Commercial Vehicles (TDCV) for the production of a new medium-weight commercial vehicle, named Novus.
The new truck has been launched for the Korean market, and is powered by the NEF six-cylinder common rail diesel engine, one of the most technologically advanced engines available on the market. With a displacement of 5.9 litres, the NEF produces up to 240 hp (176 kW) and a maximum torque of 810 Nm. TDCV and Iveco Motors / FPT is targeting a 30 per cent share of the medium-weight truck market in Korea, before planning to export the Novus to other markets worldwide. ''We are delighted to be able to announce a partnership in Korea with such an important manufacturer such as TATA Daewoo,'' says Mr Marco Perillo, Iveco Motors / FPTs’ Key Accounts Manager for Far East Countries. ''We are confident of being able to achieve our sales targets thanks to the high quality of the Novus chassis, coupled with the proven reliability of our NEF engines, of which over 100,000 units are manufactured and sold globally every year.'' ''Looking back on our activities so far, we are all very proud of the Novus,'' explains Mr Ki-Hee Won, Managing Director of TDCV. ''We have our sights firmly set on winning market leadership in Korea, and look forward to working closely with Iveco Motor / FPT to achieve great success together.'' The Novus is produced in the modern TDCV plant in Gunsan, Korea, approximately 250 km south of Seoul. Iveco Motors / FPT manufacture the NEF engines at its facility in Turin, Italy. As the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines over 70 hp, the company builds over 1,000 engines each day, for operation in commercial vehicle, rail, marine, agricultural and power generation applications.
