MAXI LEAD BY EXAMPLE
16 February 2006 - Volvo Truck Ltd

Maxilead Ltd, one of the leading metal re-cycling companies in Manchester has recently taken delivery a Volvo FH12 Globetrotter tractor unit, making the majority of their fleet now Volvo.

With nationwide contracts, the successful family-run company serves the scrap metal business and has seen such continued growth over the past few years that they are now managing over 60,000 tonnes of materials a year from consumers, industry and demolition works.

Managing Director, Peter Clay said, ''Our business is so successful because we have the best employees and the best tools for the job. Investment is put into all our staff and our fleet, everyone is multi-tasked and I only buy quality, reliable trucks and plant.''

The Maxilead fleet now stands at five Volvo trucks - four Volvo FM’s and a new addition, a Volvo FH12. Peter commented that, ''I purchased the FM skip loaders last year and they have been exceptional. They are very reliable, so when I wanted an artic tractor unit Volvo was naturally my first choice.''

Maxilead have had their new vehicle for a few months now and are already seeing the vehicles benefits. ''The new FH Globetrotter is fantastic,'' said Peter. ''Not only has great performance but also has exceptional fuel economy. We carry large heavy loads of scrap - steel, aluminium, stainless steel, copper and the Globetrotter pulls it all with ease.''

Purchased from Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd’s Regional Sales Manager, John Mather, the new Volvo FH12, 6x2 Artic is plated for 44 tonne GCW, 460hp and has been specified with Globetrotter cab in ‘Prestige’ trim. It will be maintained at Thomas Hardie’s Trafford Park depot, along with the rest of Maxilead’s fleet.

Peter also stated that he ''highly recommends'' Thomas Hardie’s service and parts department because ''vehicles spend less time off the road, they are dropped off at weekend and are ready first thing Monday morning for the week’s workload.''

Peter Clay added, ''I plan to continue expanding my fleet with Volvo Trucks. ''
