HONDA RACING F1 JOINS MIA – ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS
10 February 2006 - Honda

Honda Racing F1 Team (formerly BAR Honda) is the latest member of Motorsport Valley to sign up to the rapidly expanding MIA.

Said the team’s Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry, ''I am very pleased to confirm that the Honda Racing F1 Team has recently become a member of the Motorsport Industry Association. Along with our Technical Director, Geoffrey Willis, I attended a recent MIA motorsport dinner as guest speaker. This gave us an opportunity to see the interesting and diverse work that the MIA undertakes. The support provided by the MIA to British motorsport is invaluable and we look forward to working with the organisation and its wider membership body in the future.''

Other Grand Prix teams among the MIA’s membership include; Red Bull Racing, Renault F1 and Williams F1.

Commented the MIA’s Chris Aylett, ''We are delighted to welcome Honda Racing F1 Team into the fold. Like them, we have come a long way in the last few, action-packed years and believe we have something very worthwhile to offer all members of Motorsport Valley from specialist manufacturing SMEs to the elite international teams like Honda.''

The recent rush to join the MIA that started at Autosport International last month has continued unabated. In addition to Honda F1 Racing Team, no less six other companies have signed on the dotted line since

the show. They are: Collings Media, Edenbridge Racing, Market Engineering, LNT Automotive, Yamazaki Mazak UK and B3 Technologies.

THE MIA GETS HISTORICAL

The MIA has supported the International Historic Motorsport Show since its inception and will have a notable presence at the 2006 event, Stoneleigh, February 24-26 – Stand A12, Hall 2.

It will be sharing the space with the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Partnership (CSW). The Association’s prime aims for its participation will be to:

Increase awareness of the MIA and its activities
To recruit additional members
To promote the newly formed Motorsport Foundation
The phenomenal growth of historic motorsport has certainly not been lost on the MIA, which last year formed a related ‘special interest group’. This is headed by Ian Williamson (organiser of the International Historic Motorsport Show) and renowned motorsport engine builder Geoff Richardson. The group held its first meeting last November, which was attended by some 30 members of the fraternity and it is intended to have a further get together sometime this March.

Said the MIA’s Pim van Baarsen, ''Historic motorsport is big business these days and our services are every bit as relevant to companies within this burgeoning movement as we are to the firms that underpin contemporary racing and rallying etc. We look forward to another good show.''
