DOCTOR WHO? PROBABLY INSPIRED BY PEUGEOT
05 February 2006 - Peugeot

British Telecom’s text-to-home service now speaks with voice of Doctor Who?

Peugeot owner’s have benefited from voice synthesis texts since 2001

Following the announcement by British Telecom to use Tom Baker, the former Doctor Who actor, as the voice of their text-to-home service, owners of Peugeot cars with RT3 GSM Satellite Navigation and those planning to order one may well be left pondering whether Peugeot cars offered this brilliant service first.

In Peugeot cars the combined RT3 GSM Satellite Navigation system combines both audible and vocal destination instructions with a fully integrated telephone system, cleverly with activated voice synthesis. Placing the telephone SIM card into the system enables users to receive text messages by having them safely read out to them – without having to take their eyes away from the road while driving.

Unlike the BT approach, Peugeot can permit users to enjoy a male or female voice, rather than just that of the popular British actor. The RT3 GSM Satellite Navigation system has been available on Peugeot cars since introduction in 2001 and specified on 206, 1007, 307, 407, 607 and 807 models and also available on the Boxer van.
