UK PRICES REVEALED FOR ALL NEW AUDI A6
02 March 2004 - Audi

New A6 saloon makes its World debut at 2004 Geneva Motor Show

• Competitive UK prices, announced this week for V6 and V8 launch models, range from £24,175 OTR to £42,775 OTR

• Average price increase at launch of under 1 per cent for a car that is new from the ground up

• Available to order from early April for first deliveries from June 12

• Longer and wider new A6 features new engines, new chassis design, updated transmissions and the latest in-car technology

The latest Geneva Motor Show scene-stealer from Audi is the all-new A6 executive saloon, which makes its World debut on Tuesday March 2nd. The new Audi design and technology icon is set to buck trends not only with its striking and elegant styling, but also with its highly competitive UK prices, which at launch will represent an average increase of less than 1 per cent compared with the closest comparable outgoing A6 models.

Despite the new car’s countless advantages over its predecessor, V6 and V8 launch cars will start from £24,175 OTR, with UK orders acceptable from early April for first deliveries from June 12.

Longer, wider, more spacious and with more boot capacity than all key rivals - not to mention larger competitors in the luxury segment - the new A6 will raise the stakes in the class in virtually every area. It launches in Britain with three advanced new V6 engines – a 177PS 2.4 petrol, a 256PS 3.2 petrol with FSI direct petrol injection and a 3.0 TDI V6 with 225PS – plus a compact V8 petrol unit with 335PS for range flagships. Allied to these will be either a new six-speed manual gearbox, a six-speed tiptronic automatic or the latest evolution of the acclaimed multitronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), now offering seven fixed gear ratios in its ‘manual’ mode.

The latest Audi dynamic suspension will provide the perfect foil to this cutting edge engine and transmission technology - the new fully independent multi-link set-up will be available in either front-wheel-drive or quattro four-wheel-drive configurations and promises an excellent compromise between handling composure and ride refinement. From 2005, it will also be possible to upgrade this set-up to include the adaptive air suspension system first seen in the Audi A8 luxury saloon.

Ride and handling in the new A6 also benefit from a 35 per cent increase in body rigidity compared with the previous model, and also from a wheel base extension of 83mm. This extra length also brings obvious advantages in terms of ‘packaging’, significantly enhancing passenger space, particularly in the rear.

As well as its spacious layout, the well appointed cabin of the new A6 will also be notable for its outstanding build quality, its style and its technological content. A version of the Multi Media Interface (MMI) control system seen first in the Audi A8 will be fitted as standard to all A6 models, as will useful enhancements such as cruise control, a CD player, automatic light and wiper activation and servo assisted boot lid locking. From 2005, options including adaptive light cornering lights, electronic tyre pressure monitoring and radar-assisted distance control will also be added.

The all-new A6 executive saloon makes its World debut on Tuesday March 2nd at the 2004 Geneva Show. The launch range will combine advanced technology and exceptional quality with state-of-the-art V6 and V8 power, and will be priced very competitively from £24,175 OTR. UK orders can be taken from early April for first deliveries from June 12.
