INNOVATION AWARD
20 January 2006 - Beru F1 Systems
Development of advanced tyre pressure monitoring system secures MIA award victory for Diss-based motorsport technology specialist.
Technical innovation and specialist design lies at the heart of BERU F1 Systems’ success. This was formally recognised at the annual Motorsport Industry Association Awards Dinner on January 12, 2006 held during the Autosport International exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham (January 13-16, 2006). BERU F1 Systems received the prestigious MIA Business Excellence Award for Technology and Innovation. One of only seven awards presented, it pays tribute to DigiTyre, the company’s new tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). DigiTyre is currently used in the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the world’s fastest road car. “We have worked very hard to build our reputation as a technical specialist and innovator in our field,” says John Bailey, managing director of BERU F1 Systems. “Our mission everyday is to drive exciting technology forward and create original products but it is an honour to be recognised formally by the motorsport industry in this way. It rewards the hard work, commitment and talent of our dedicated team. I am very proud.” Flexibility, reliability and ease of use are core strengths of the winning product, which is based on BERU technology. High-level technical support and software allows also for in the field tuning capabilities. DigiTyre is a highly accurate, robust TPMS. It operates at an unrivalled level of performance in harsh motorsport conditions. Capable of operating at temperatures of over 100oC and forces up to 2900G, DigiTyre succeeds where standard TPMS designs fail. Building on its successes with DigiTyre in motorsport and high-end production car applications, BERU F1 systems is continuing to develop the product for new users and novel applications. For the unique challenge of US stock car racing, the company has created the first ever dual tyre pressure monitoring system, DigiTyre DT, planned for release in 2006 for the NASCAR racing series. At a more accessible level, customer demand has triggered the design of a new low cost version of the system, which launched at Autosport International last week. DigiTyre Lite brings the power, performance and safety of BERU F1 Systems’ award winning TPMS technology to a far broader group of motorsport enthusiasts world-wide. About BERU F1 Systems Founded in 1993 and since 2001, a specialist division of BERU AG, BERU F1 Systems offers advanced design and manufacturing facilities for vehicle wiring harness systems, tyre pressure monitoring, stress measurement and composites.
