VOLKSWAGEN REVEALS FOX PRICING AND ON SALE DATE
10 January 2006 - Volkswagen (UK)

The Fox, Volkswagen’s new entry level small car, will go on sale at the end of April 2006 with prices starting at £6,595.

This new Volkswagen, which made its international debut at the 2005 Leipzig Motor Show, will be available to order in the UK from 16 January 2006 .

The Fox is a small car designed to give customers exceptional space in a high-value, high-quality package. At 3.83 metres, it is longer than a Lupo but shorter than a Polo. Within a height of 1.54 metres it can accommodate four large adults, or one cubic metre of luggage with the rear seats folded.

It will be offered with three doors, a choice of two petrol engines - a 1.2-litre 55 PS and a 1.4-litre 75 PS - and two trim levels. The entry level Fox will benefit from power steering, CD player, ABS, twin airbags and the lowest possible insurance rating – 1E.

The Urban Fox - the higher specification model - will benefit from a host of extra equipment and trim, including electric front windows, body coloured bumpers and door mirrors and remote central locking. In Urban Fox specification, the highly competitive insurance rating is 2E.

The Fox harnesses traditional Volkswagen values of low cost of ownership and durability, with a galvanised steel body and extensive use of laser welding. A sliding rear bench seat is standard in the Urban Fox and optional on the Fox – it moves a full 15 cms lengthways and is split 50/50. Surprisingly, the new Volkswagen Fox is larger and lower priced than the Lup o model it replaces.
