‘SCOOP’ HITS THE STAGES - AGAIN!
Following on from his rallying debut twelve months ago, intrepid motorsport journalist and broadcaster Larry ‘Scoop’ Carter from Northallerton will once again take to the wheel when he contests the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally at Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire on December 27th. Now Editor of ‘Motorcycle Racer’ magazine as well as continuing his work as owner of his own successful motorsport PR and management company, and whose work involves being predominantly in the popular British Superbike Championship as well as ANCRO MSA National Gravel Rally Championship, Carter has joined forces with Darlington based CS Automotive who will run the Robertson Rally Services Peugeot 206 Super Cup car which he is using. “I tested the car at Teesside Autodrome last week and the first reports are that it felt good. I had Mitsubishi works driver Ryan Champion come along and give me some tuition so I’m hoping for a good result. Last year was a toe in the water exercise but this year with a better car, I think we can put in a much improved performance” said Carter who has won the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally twice in the past co-driving for Stobart Motorsport Superbike boss Paul Bird in a Hyundai Accent WRC. Co driving for Carter in the Simon Bailes for Peugeot and Dunlop Tyres sponsored car will be debutante Richard Place , also from Northallerton and the pair will start at car 60 out of the 90 entrants. Readers of ‘Racer Magazine’ can read about the teams exploits exclusively when the next issue goes on sale on January 12th 2006. The popular event, organised by Northallerton Automobile Club, will consist of eight stages using various routes around Croft Circuit with the first car starting at 09.15. Already the event has been heavily oversubscribed and is rapidly attaining the status of the most popular single venue rally in the country; such is the quality of the entry.
