SANDWELL MBC SHOW ‘TRUE GRIT’ WITH THEIR FIRST VOLVO TRUCKS
23 December 2005 - Volvo Truck Ltd

Hartshorne Motor Services have supplied the Highways Department of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in the West Midlands with seven new Volvo trucks

The rucks include five FLE 4x2 rigids and two FLE 6x4 rigids for use across a wide range of applications.

''These are the first Volvo’s we’ve bought,'' says Sandwell MBC’s John Daly. ''They were chosen based on their performance for other councils in the Black Country area. We’ve had them out working on gritting already this year and they are performing well. We’ve had no problems with them.''

Four of the 220bhp 4x2’s have been supplied with Whale gritter bodies and plough mounts and will be used entirely on gritting work throughout the winter on Class 1 and Class 2 roads in the Sandwell area.

The last 4x2 and the two 250bhp 6x4’s have been supplied with Reynolds Boughton demountable hookloader bodies for versatility and will be used on gritting and highway maintenance work, as well as waste and recycling as required.
