HYUNDAI TACKLES THE COMPETITION - AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON
07 April 2004 - Hyundai

Hyundai has become the first distributor to give both its dealers and customers the chance to compare its cars against the opposition at the touch of a button, with fully independent data.

The Hyundai Competitor Comparison Guide has now been rolled out to the company''s dealer network, which allows them to compare a Hyundai vehicle against any other car - and there is a version that customers can use to compare a Hyundai against its key opponents. No other manufacturer has both of these systems operational.

The system is simplicity itself to work - all a customer or dealer has to do is choose which Hyundai model they want to compare. The system then generates all the cars which are considered to be its main competitors. The user can then pick all of these, or just a selection.
Then they click ''compare equipment'' and the system loads up all main comparative data - including price, performance, equipment, warranty, specification, etc. It even shows the price advantage (or, in a few very rare cases, disadvantage) the Hyundai has against its competitors, and can recalculate this figure to take extra equipment into the price comparison.

This usually means the Hyundai has an even greater price advantage. The system shows that more than 80 per cent of Hyundai cars have a like-for-like advantage over key competitors.
For instance, keying in Hyundai Getz 1.1 GSI three door pulls up the following competitor models; Fiat Punto 1.2 16v Active three-door, Ford Fiesta Finesse 1.25 three-door, Nissan Micra 1.0 16v E three-door, Peugeot 206 Style 1.1 three-door, Toyota Yaris T3 1.0 VVT-I three-door and Vauxhall Corsa Design 1.0i12v three-door. And the Getz has a price advantage over all of them.
Dealers have welcomed the Hyundai Competitor Comparison Guide warmly, as it gives them accurate competitor information, which can be shown to the customer, at their fingertips.
Ian Lindsay, Dealer Systems Manager, said: ''This will give our dealers the confidence and the information to show customers just what an advantage Hyundai vehicles have. They really appreciate what this system can do for them.''

He added: ''This is all about being as open as possible with customers, offering them complete transparency. We are confident that customers, when armed with all the facts, will choose a Hyundai - especially when you consider the benefits of the unbeatable five year unlimited mileage warranty.''
The information is updated every month, and comes from fully independent sources. The system is compiled by industry specialists Spyder RedSpy Ltd, which supplies data and analysis to a number of leading car manufacturers, as well as consumer websites such as www.channel4.com/4car and www.verdictoncars.com

Jay Nagley, Managing Director of Spyder RedSpy, said: ''We are delighted to bring objective data from consumer websites to both Hyundai dealers and customers. It is a tribute to Hyundai''s integrity that they agreed to take our data without trying to influence the information in any way.''
