ROAD SAFETY AWARD FOR VOLVO
26 November 2005 - Volvo Cars
The Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers has given one of its 40th Anniversary Road Safety Awards to Volvo in honour of its world leading commitment and philosophy to vehicle safety.
Presenting the award to Volvo, the only commercial organisation to be recognised, the Chairman of AIRSO, Robert Smalley, said: ''Volvo has been, and is today, an innovator in the field of safety, putting the wellbeing of their drivers and passengers as a paramount feature in design, and is eagerly watched by its competitors as safety features now become a greater consideration when purchasing a new vehicle. ''Volvo''s philosophy and commitment to vehicle safety as a world leader makes them a worthy recipient of an AIRSO 40th Anniversary Road Safety Award,'' he continued. Included in the list of Volvo safety innovations highlighted by AIRSO were laminated windscreens, the three-point seatbelt, side airbags and its latest Blind Spot Information System (BLIS).
