Four managers at Remploy Automotive have gained Master of Science degrees.
Remploy Automotive is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of out-sourced solutions in the automotive sector and now has a host of managers with advanced degrees. David Wells, the firm’s Customer Development Manager, has been awarded an MSc Engineering Business Management from Coventry University. He is based at Stoke-on-Trent at Remploy’s North Staffs factory, which is part of the firm’s Specialist Vehicle wing. JCB is one of Specialist Vehicle’s major clients. Mark Riley, Unit Manager at Remploy Coventry, part of the automotive division’s Original Equipment wing also gained an MSc along with their colleagues Cass Johnson, a Manufacturing Engineer based at Remploy Automotive’s Birmingham factory and Adrian Jobson, a Project Engineer, who also works at the Birmingham factory. The Birmingham factorty carries out a range of work for clients such as Aston Martin and Land Rover. Last year four other Remploy Automotive managers gained MSc degrees in part of a drive by the firm to encourage all employees to gain higher professional qualifications. Remploy Automotive is part of Remploy Limited, the UK’s largest provider of job opportunities for disabled people and people with health problems. The majority of employees with the automotive division are disabled. John Price, Remploy’s Director of Services Businesses, said: ''This is a tremendous achievement and it helps Remploy Automotive to raise its skills base further and be recognised as a totally professional supplier to the industry. Remploy Automotive has a £50-million turnover and employees 500 people at sites in Birmingham, Bridgend, Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby, Jarrow, Huddersfield and Abertillery. Clients of Remploy Automotive include General Motors, Ford, JCB, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Honda, BMW, Hella and Harman.
