CONGESTION CHARGE SUSPENDED FOR CHRISTMAS
22 November 2005 - Transport for London
The Congestion Charge will again be suspended between Christmas and NewYear.
Transport for London has confirmed that there will be no charge for driving in the congestion charging zone on the three working days between Christmas and New Year. This is the second year this concession has been made. The Congestion Charge will not apply from Saturday 24 December until Monday 2 January. It will resume on Tuesday 3 January 2006. TfL Director of Congestion Charging, Malcolm Murray-Clark, said: ''The Congestion Charge is, of course, about discouraging car use and reducing congestion. It''s made a real difference to journey times in the zone, reducing traffic levels by 18 per cent and congestion by 30 per cent. But, with traffic lighter there will be no charge for the ten days between Saturday 24 December and Monday 2 January.''
