Drivers are notified by a beeping sound that becomes more rapid until a continuous sound is heard when the vehicle is 30 cm away from the object. Because the device is positioned behind the rear number plate with the sensors at either end, there is no need to remove the rear bumper. Available from participating Vauxhall retailers throughout the country, this accessory can be supplied and fitted for just £129.99. Vauxhall also offers a range of car alarms, which can be fitted as an aftermarket accessory by any Vauxhall retailer. With over two million reported cases of vehicle-related theft in England and Wales in 2003 – 04, it makes sense to get an alarm professionally fitted. Designed and manufactured by MetaSystem specifically for Vauxhall models, the range features the latest ultrasonic sensor technology and the three systems are Thatcham compliant. Suitable for Agila and Corsa models without remote central locking, the MVX1 system offers a Thatcham Category 2 to 1 alarm upgrade where the car is already fitted with a Category 2 immobiliser. The MVX2 offers an alternative Category 2 to 1 alarm upgrade operated by the existing Vauxhall remote control, and covers Agila, Corsa, Tigra, Astra G, and Combo, Vivaro and Movano vans.
