MAZDA OCTOBER ROUND-UP
17 November 2005 - Mazda

Mazda confirms its position as Britain''s favourite sports car manufacturer with 40 per cent segment share

The first month of sales of the all-new third generation Mazda MX-5, combined with the ongoing success of the unique rotary-engined Mazda RX-8, has put Mazda at almost 40 per cent share of the non-premium sports segment this month.

Total UK sales of the Mazda RX-8 have now reached over 15,500 since its launch in October 2003. Meanwhile, 460 customers bought the new Mazda MX-5 this past month via the preorder website, which launched in August, including 300 special launch edition models that sold out by mid-October.

Top volume seller for Mazda in October was the Mazda3 at just over 800 units, yet again proving its worth as a fresh alternative in the crowded family car C-segment. Mazda6 sales reached over 500 units, while Mazda RX-8 October sales were over 400 in line with the fantastic MX-5 result of 460 vehicles sold.

Total Mazda sales for the month reached 2,635 units resulting in a market share of 1.69 per cent for October and 1.92 per cent year to date. Total Mazda sales so far this year have reached 41,850 putting the Zoom-Zoom manufacturer on track for another successful year of sales growth in the UK.

Mazda RX-8 Celebrates Sixth Endurance Win

The Mazda RX-8 race team finished the S1 Production Series Britcars endurance race season as they started - with a win. The final race of the season was held at Snetterton on 5 November where Mark Ticehurst and Natasha Firman took pole position and led the 2.5 hour night race from start to finish, making this race the sixth win of the season.

''The team achieved tremendous results all season proving the speed, reliability and handling of the production specification Mazda RX-8 against cars specifically built for racing,'' commented Graeme Fudge, Mazda Motors UK PR Director.
