PEUGEOT ‘ON TAP’ – AT SOUTH WEST WATER
16 November 2005 - Peugeot
Peugeot is supplying South West Water with its complete range of LCVs – the 206 van, Partner, Expert and Boxer in a deal comprising 100 vehicles a year for at least the next three years.
The vehicles will be used by South West Water employees undertaking a number of operational activities including the supply of clean water, maintenance of water distribution mains, and waste water management. Peugeot’s 206 vans will be used by inspectors visiting sites, while the larger vans will be used by employees involved in works maintenance who require a spacious vehicle capable of carrying heavy specialist tools and materials. All of the LCVs supplied are fitted with Peugeot’s highly economical diesel engines, ranging from the 1.4 litre HDi turbo-diesel engine in the 206 van, to the powerful 2.8 litre HDi turbo-diesel engine in the Boxer. The Partner, Expert and Boxer are all practical and ‘fit for purpose’ in terms of load carrying ability and capacity, as well as driver comfort. The Partner has a payload of up to 800 kg, the Expert some 925 kg, and the Boxer a payload of up to 1,255 kg which is required to transport especially bulky and heavy equipment. Richard Watkins, Transport and Logistics manager for South West Water said: ''We have been working with Peugeot for the past three years and are very happy to be continuing this relationship into the future. Peugeot’s excellent and comprehensive LCV range meets our diverse needs and helps us carry out the complex tasks involved in running a modern water and sewerage company. ''The cost efficiency of running Peugeot diesel vehicles is a particular benefit, and the technologically advanced engines offer excellent fuel consumption, as well as helping the company to meet its transport environmental targets including a reduction in vehicle emissions.'' Tony Jehan, fleet sales manager at Peugeot added: ''To continue supplying South West Water with its LCV requirements is fantastic news. Any company in the utility sector needs robust, economical and user-friendly vehicles, and we have a comprehensive line-up which meets all these requirements.'' South West Water is the regional water company for Cornwall, Devon and parts of Dorset and Somerset, and provides water and sewerage supplies to 1.5 million people in the west country. Its head offices are in Exeter, Devon. All vehicles will be supplied by two Peugeot dealerships, Hawkins Motors in St Austell and Renwicks of Exeter.
