Just in case anyone is considering ordering a new soft top rival from Saab, BMW or Audi, Volvo has released the official prices and specifications for its all new, four-seater C70, with retractable hard top, that transforms from a stylish coupe to a desirable convertible in under 30 seconds.

The all new Volvo C70 is due to arrive in UK showrooms in February 2006, with prices ranging from £26,200 for a 2.4i Sport, to £33,225 for the range-topping 220bhp T5 SE Lux, and first deliveries to customers expected in time for spring.

Volvo offers three trim levels for the new C70 - Sport, SE and SE Lux - all offering space for four adults, high luxury specifications, Volvo safety standards and performance audio systems, plus two unique features: a door-mounted inflatable curtain (IC) as part of Volvo''s SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and its three-piece retractable hard top.

Dynamic handling and performance are provided by two powerful, yet refined, five cylinder petrol engines – a 170bhp 2.4i with 230 Nm of torque, and a 220bhp T5 with 320 Nm of torque. In addition, a 180bhp D5 turbodiesel is due to follow mid-2006.

With a sales forecast of only 3,000 cars in the UK next year, the all new Volvo C70 will retain a certain exclusivity, especially in comparison to the much larger volumes sold by some of the other premium brand rivals. With the added security and visibility offered by a hard top, the new Volvo C70 is expected to appeal to both corporate and private customers.

The first public opportunity to see the all new Volvo C70 in the UK will be at the MPH Show (www.mphshow.co.uk) which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 11-13 November and at Earls Court in London from 17-20 November.

Volvo has already received a considerable number of enquiries and orders for the Volvo C70, reminiscent of the levels received prior to the Volvo XC90 launch.
