HYUNDAI APPOINTS NEW UK MANAGING DIRECTOR

Hyundai has appointed a new UK Managing Director. Tony Whitehorn (45),
Tony Whitehorn is currently Operations Director for Toyota GB, and will take up the post from 21 November. Whitehorn’s appointment follows Hyundai’s transition earlier this year from being an independent distributorship to manufacturer ownership under the new company name Hyundai Motor UK Ltd (HMUK). Whitehorn has more than 24 years’ experience in the motor industry encompassing a range of responsibilities, including sales and marketing and aftersales. He joined Toyota GB in 1989, prior to which he held posts at British Leyland and Renault. Commenting on his appointment, Whitehorn said: ''Hyundai is widely recognised as being a brand on the rise with a highly respected UK dealer network, solid UK sales record and a superb product reliability performance, underlined by its unique and industry leading five year warranty. ''I am delighted to be joining Hyundai, the world’s seventh largest car manufacturer, at a pivotal point of its development here in the UK and across the world.'' Married with three children, Whitehorn lists his interests outside of work as football, supporting Leeds United, and skiing.
