Electric sliding doors become the cyclists new preference

With the changing of the clocks and winter drawing ever closer, Peugeot is thinking ahead in terms of safety for both passengers of its innovative new 1007 and other road users.

Picture this typical scene. A cyclist on the way home from work goes to overtake a parked car unaware that the driver is about to climb out. In normal circumstances the door would open suddenly and the cyclist would have to take sudden emergency action to avoid crashing into the car door. This could result in the cyclist braking so hard they fall off their bike or swerving into the path of on-coming traffic, resulting in possible injury or even death!

This potential hazard is avoided by the driver of the Peugeot 1007. With its electric sliding doors there is little danger of a door swinging out into the pathway of any unsuspecting cyclist as it simply slides back on its rails, bleeping an alert to passers-by that it’s gently gliding backwards.

Just one example of how the innovative engineering of the 1007’s doors is a safer option for all concerned – and especially the oblivious cyclist.

Awarded the maximum Euro NCAP five stars, the 1007 recorded the highest score of any car since the safety standard began in 1997.

The comprehensive standard safety equipment on the 1007 also includes seven airbags – including one mounted on the steering column, – anti-submarining seats, pre-tensioning seatbelts with force limiters, and for child protection, Isofix fittings for child seats that comply with the new three-point fixing standards.

Prices for the Peugeot 1007 start from £10,850 on the road.
