PRIMASTAR CAN NOW SEAT NINE
28 October 2005 - Nissan
The new Nissan Primastar minibus has just been unveiled, further expanding Nissan’s ever-growing light commercial range.
With seating for nine, the new minibus shares its underpinnings with the short wheelbase low roof 2.9T Primastar van and is available in two trim levels. Priced at £19,680 OTR the E spec offers ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), three point seatbelts, remote central locking, a driver’s airbag, an alarm and immobiliser and has ISOFIX child restraints fitted to the 2nd row of seats. An extra £500 buys you the SE version which gains CD player, front power windows, heated mirrors and Nissan’s Rear Park System (RPS). Power comes from the 99bhp 1.9dCi common rail turbo diesel engine which returns 37mpg, giving the minibus a range of over 700 miles between visits to the pumps. Service intervals of 18,000 miles and a three year/60,000 miles warranty also ensure cost effective ownership. Access is made easy via two large sliding doors with opening windows and a large rear glazed tailgate helps keep you dry when loading and unloading luggage. While accommodating nine people, including the driver, the Primastar minibus also benefits from a foldable 3rd row of seats, doubling the loading space from 1.24m³ to 2.49m³ while still providing seating for six. Nissan is aiming for a 5% share of the minibus market in the Primastar’s first year and is very specific about where its buyers are likely to come from. ''We are targeting customers who need a combination of nine seats and a safe and comfortable environment in which to travel. That means larger families, construction companies, schools, colleges, taxi and chauffeur drive companies and the police and emergency services,'' explained Isabelle Kerdat, LCV Product Manager. Available in a choice of 12 colours, the Primastar minibus is available now from all Nissan dealers.
