RENAULT LAUNCHES REVISED KANGOO VAN 2006
30 October 2005 - Renault

The Renault Kangoo Van has consistently been a UK top-five seller in the compact van market, with over 60,000 sales since launch

* Introduction of more powerful Euro IV engines, including new 1.2 16V 75hp and four new special edition versions
* New body colours, interior trims and technology
* ABS with Brake Assist standard on full range
* Automatic gearbox now available for both SL and SL''+'' versions

The Renault Kangoo Van has consistently been a UK top-five seller in the compact van market, with over 60,000 sales since launch. Now for 2006 this ever-popular van receives a raft of product enhancements, including thoughtfully revised and updated interiors, new equipment and options, new Special Editions with air conditioning and increased payload, plus several new engines to give a fully Euro IV compliant line-up. Even with all of the Kangoo’s improvements, the range remains very competitively priced with an average price premium of only £250 over the previous model.

With its stand-out design, ease of driving, excellent load volume, practical interior and low ownership costs, it’s not hard to see why the Renault Kangoo Van is still the best-selling small van in Europe. To keep it at the top of the sales charts, several product specification changes have been made, such as ABS with Brake Assist across the whole range, a power hike for the entry-level petrol engine from an eight-valve 1.2-litre 60hp powerplant to a 1.2 16V 75hp, plus the availability of automatic transmission in both SL and SL’+'' guise.

The most important of the technical changes however, comes with the new Euro IV engines. All of the engines have been revised to comply with the latest EU emissions and pollutants standards, offering smoother power delivery and reduced emissions than the outgoing range, plus outstanding fuel economy and improved performance. The diesel range sees the arrival of a new 84hp engine, in place of the former dCi 80, while the

former 55hp and 65hp both get an increase in power to 60hp and 70hp respectively. In the petrol engines, a new 1.2-litre 16V with 75hp joins a revised version of the current 1.6-litre 95hp with automatic transmission.

Save the advent of body coloured bumpers and door mirrors on the SL+ versions, plus the launch of two new body colours: Ink Blue and Giverny Green, little cosmetic work has been required to maintain Kangoo Van’s cheery and distinctive look. Things are a lot more different when it comes to the interior, which has received considerable attention, particularly in terms of the cabin’s look and feel, with the most notable improvements being the new interior trim, ‘Patch’ on SL and ‘Gabor’ on SL+, as well as revised dash and trim colouring.

As with all Renaults, ease of use is extremely important, with Kangoo Van no different in this respect. Its equipment levels continue to be impressive, with 30W radio-CD, load anchorage points, reclining front seat and remote central locking all fitted as standard.

For customers seeking even higher levels of comfort and practicality, the ''+'' versions continue to benefit from electric front windows, flexible side anchorage points, load area floor covering, overhead parcel shelf and sliding side door. In the new range, SL+ versions now boast: three-button key (opens load area and Cab separately), intelligent wipers, load area lights with delay timer, ''See me home’ lights (which stay on after the vehicle is switched off – handy for deliveries in non-daylight hours) and trip computer.

There are also three new option packs available (prices quoted exclude VAT):

Cab – armrest and underseat storage tray, £75

Easy – 3 button key, intelligent wipers, ‘See Me Home’ lights, £75

Electric – electric door mirrors and trip computer, £100

Rounding off the list of improvements to Kangoo Van 2006 is the arrival of four Special Edition - ‘Heavy Duty’ models, aimed specifically at operators doing higher mileage and who require the extra cabin comfort of standard air conditioning, lower running costs due to longer service intervals and increased flexibility with more payload than the standard

SL17 Kangoo Van versions. Accordingly, these versions will benefit from the new product’s 2006 styling and technology but continue with the dCi 65 and 82 horsepower Euro III engines with 18,000 mile service intervals rather than the new Euro IV with 12,000 miles. These versions also benefit from 689kg payload (as opposed to the 620kg payload on the equivalent SL17 versions), all for only £150 more than the equivalent SL and SL+ versions on which they are based.

The new Kangoo Van 2006 is available to order now with prices listed below. For further information, see www.renault.co.uk or call 0800 52 51 50.
